Knight Rider is a television series that originally aired in September 1982. The plot of the series is that after a near fatal shot to the face, police detective Micheal Long is given reconstuctive face surgery and an new identity, Micheal Knight, by a self-made billionaire, Wilton Knight. Wilton then selects Michael to be the primary field agent in the pilot program of his Knight Industries-funded public justice organization, the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG) and is teamed up with KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand), a heavily modified Pontiac Trans Am with artifical intelligence. Michael and KITT are brought in during situations where "direct action might provide the only feasible solution".
