The Terminator is a series of science fiction films with the plot line concerning a futuristic battle in the year 2029 between artificially intelligent machines (lead by a Cyberdyne Systems artificial intelligent computer creation known as Skynet) and the human race (lead by John Connor and the resistance).
The main stories of each movie/series is set in present day where the futuristic Skynet has found a way to send back in time deadly machine assassins known as Terminators to kill someone that is now a threat for them in the future. In the first Terminator Movie, Skynet sent a Terminator to try to kill Sarah Connors before she becomes pregnant and has her son, John Connors. After the attempt to kill Sarah Connors and fails, Skynet sends back other Terminators to try to kill John Connors (before he becomes the great military leader of the resistance force).

There has been four Terminators movies [Terminator (1984), Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), and Terminator Salvation (2009)] and a television series (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) on the FOX network.
