The Thing, also known as John Carpenter's The Thing, is a science-fiction horror film first released in June 1982. The plot of the Thing is while hunting down an "Alaskan Malamute", a Norwegian helicopter goes down and is destoryed near an American research station. The "dog" is captured and placed in the kennel where it metamorphoses and attacks them. Finding out that the creature is actually an alien that can immitate other living organisms, the research team starts turning on each other to find out who are human and who are really aliens.
The Thing that was released in October 2011 is the prequel to the film.
